Kingsurf surf’s the January 2014 storm surge up the river in Mawgan Porth
The storm surged waves up the river in Mawgan Porth tonight. Obviously we couldn’t miss out on
this rare phenomenon so we surfed the Mawgan Porth bore yeeeeew!
Last night at 6.30pm a waves started funneling through the bridge at Mawgan Porth Beach Near Newquay in Cornwall. It then began to surge up the river Menalhyl towards st Mawgan.
We had noticed that on the bigger surges it was surfable so we ( the instructors of the local surf school) got into our wetsuits and gave it a go. To our surprise we managed to surf the wave for about 200 meters up river.
The local people said that this was the first time this has ever happened so we thought we would send the pictures and video’s to you in case it was of interest.
The people surfing are Thomas Greaves, Gareth Brindley and Peter Abell
Happy New Year!
